We are seeking an experienced
Interim Financial Controller
to join a well-established automotive dealership group based in Brisbane and support the business during a
6-month maternity leave contract
.
This is a hands-on leadership role, ideal for a senior dealership accountant or financial controller who is comfortable stepping into an established environment and ensuring continuity across financial operations, reporting, and compliance.
The Role
Reporting to the Director and the Executive Management team, you will lead the finance and administration functions of the business, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and effective cash flow management.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading and supporting the accounts and administration teams to maintain performance and accuracy
* Managing end-of-month processes and preparing comprehensive management reporting packs
* Producing monthly bank covenant and compliance reporting
* Overseeing accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions
* Managing daily cash flow, wholesale debtors, and banking relationships
* Liaising with auditors, accountants, bankers, and external stakeholders
* Maintaining control of the Eclipse DMS accounting module and related reporting
* Coordinating interim and final audits
* Preparing and submitting BAS, IAS, FBT, superannuation, and payroll tax returns
* Driving process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance
* Providing leadership oversight to retail delivery and workshop administration teams
* Promoting a safe, compliant, and positive workplace culture
About You
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
* A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline is preferred
* CPA or CA qualification (or working towards)
* Automotive dealership accounting experience
(highly regarded)
* Strong analytical, organisational, and problem-solving skills
* A high level of attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* The ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively with senior leadership
* Permanent Residency or Citizenship for Australia or New Zealand
