This position is within the People and Culture team and is part of the Corporate Branch. The Senior HR Advisor provides expert guidance and support to DTA employees on a range of human resource matters, including Work Health and Safety (WHS), rehabilitation, performance management, and employee conduct.
This role offers the opportunity to work across diverse areas of HR, helping you build broad expertise while exploring what truly interests you. You'll be supported to learn, grow, and contribute to meaningful initiatives that shape the employee experience at DTA.
The Senior HR Advisor will be a human-centered and collaborative professional, with proven experience in managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Please note: This role may require interstate travel from time to time.
Key duties:
- Collaborate across the HR team to support a broad range of HR functions, including case management, WHS, performance management, and generalist HR activities.
- Manage sensitive and complex cases related to rehabilitation, performance, probation, and conduct within the APS context, providing transparent, impartial advice to employees and managers while maintaining accurate case records.
- Develop and apply early intervention strategies, interpret and apply relevant policies and legislation, and support both employees and managers through case-related matters.
- Deliver timely, accurate, and professional advice to employees regarding employment conditions.
- Contribute to the enhancement of policies and guidance materials to promote best practice approaches in case management, WHS, and performance management.
- Support DTA's WHS obligations by assisting with incident management and investigations, identifying risks and controls, contributing to WHS reporting, and helping manage the Employee Assistance Program.
- Lead and implement new health, safety, and wellbeing initiatives, programs, and systems.
- Identify and assess opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of HR services for employees, managers, and external stakeholders.
- Lead and support HR projects using agile and user-focused methodologies to deliver impactful outcomes.
- Prepare high-level briefings and correspondence on HR matters, including cross-functional initiatives.
- Develop communication strategies and educational campaigns to promote HR projects and initiatives across the agency.
- Contribute to regular reporting and briefing activities as required.
