In your new role you will work across the Mental Health Acute Inpatient Units providing care within your scope for people requiring treatment for acute mental health conditions. About us:
Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service provide an extensive range of health services at more thatn 30 regional, rural and remote facilities across a geographical area of 142,900 square kilometres. The Health Service is 95 percent self-sufficient with only a small number of high- level acute services being provided in Townsville and Brisbane.
The Adult Acute Mental Health Inpatient Units are located within Cairns Hospital. Mental Health Level 1 (MHU1) and Mental Health Level 2 (MHU2) are designed equally to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for people with acute mental health problems requiring treatment in an inpatient setting and who cannot be managed in a less restrictive environment in the community.
The Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) is a 10-bed ward and is a specialised unit within the Cairns Hospital. PICU provides intensive psychiatric care for patients experiencing acute mental health crises or severe psychiatric symptoms.
About your role:
As an Assistant in Nursing, your role will include (but is not limited to):
* Build therapeutic relationships with consumers based on trust, warmth, and empathy.
* Perform visual observations and document in ieMR as required
* Complete stock management duties as required
* Assist Nursing staff as required within scope
