Skylight Mental Health is a community based, not-for-profit organisation providing psychosocial support, education, and recovery based services for people experiencing mental illness, their families and carers. With a strong commitment to lived experience and community inclusion, Skylight delivers a diverse range of programs including NDIS support, therapeutic and activity groups, counselling, carer services and regional outreach.
Reporting to the skills based Board, the Chief Executive Officer will lead a passionate and specialist skilled team, driving strategic direction, operational excellence and sector leadership. Key responsibilities include:
* in conjunction with the Board, leading the development and execution of strategic and annual business plans aligned with Skylight’s mission and values;
* ensuring compliance, sound governance and effective reporting to the Board;
* fostering a positive, inclusive culture focused on participant outcomes and staff engagement;
* ensuring financial sustainability and growth through effective resource planning, risk management and new business development;
* representing Skylight as a sector leader and spokesperson, building strong relationships with government, mental health organisations, professional groups, funders, partners and the broader community;
* driving program and service innovation to identify efficiencies and cost savings;
* identifying future sustainable growth opportunities in adjacent service areas;
* leading, supporting and developing teams to respond creatively to organisational and broader challenges;
* contributing to national initiatives through Skylight’s membership in the Mental Illness Fellowship of Australia (MIFA).
Applications are invited from experienced and appropriately qualified values driven executives with a strong commitment to mental health and community wellbeing. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proven leadership in complex, mission driven environments, along with strong strategic planning, governance and financial management capabilities. A highly developed understanding of the mental health and community services landscape, including the NDIS is sought, as are exceptional stakeholder engagement and advocacy skills. The successful candidate will bring warmth, authenticity, sensitivity and a collaborative leadership style.
