About Yirara College
Yirara College is a Lutheran secondary boarding school in Alice Springs, providing education and care for Indigenous students from remote Australian communities. Our mission is to create a safe, supportive, and culturally responsive learning environment that empowers students to grow in confidence, skills, and identity.
The Role
We are seeking enthusiastic and committed Classroom Support Officers to join our teaching and learning team. These positions are school term-time only, averaging 35 hours per week.
As a Classroom Support Officer, you will work alongside teachers to support Indigenous students in the classroom and help create a positive, engaging learning environment.
Key responsibilities include:
* Assisting teachers in delivering lessons and activities.
* Providing in-class support for students to build confidence and independence.
* Encouraging positive behaviour and supporting student wellbeing.
* Helping foster cross-cultural understanding in the classroom.
About You
We are looking for patient, approachable individuals who are passionate about supporting the education of Indigenous students.
Essential:
* Current Working With Children Clearance (Ochre Card).
* Current Police Clearance.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work as part of a team in a busy school environment.
Desirable:
* Previous experience in a school or education support role.
* Experience working with Indigenous students, or willingness to learn in a cross-cultural environment.
* Relevant qualifications in education support (e.g. Certificate III/IV).
