About The Role Reporting to the Project Manager, you’ll ensure delivery against cost, schedule, quality, and safety targets, while contributing to continuous improvement across the broader project portfolio. You’ll be involved from early project framing through to execution, working closely with internal SMEs, contractors, and stakeholders to ensure projects are planned well, governed effectively, and delivered with zero harm to people or the environment.
You will be accountable for the delivery of projects such as a bus depot electrification project – amongst others. Your primary focus as a Senior Project Engineer will be on field work, construction activities, HSE, quality and contractor management.
This is a 12-month contract assignment commencing in June 2026, however, this could be extended or be made permanent, depending on the broader portfolio of projects and staff movements.
Key Responsibilities
Supporting early‑stage project framing and development
Developing scopes of work, cost estimates, schedules, and execution plans
Monitoring and managing project execution in line with agreed plans
Managing risks, issues, actions, and decision registers
Supporting contractor performance and onsite activities as required (including Safety Management monitoring to ensure contractor compliance)
Ensuring compliance with EnergyAustralia’s Project Management Governance System (PMGS)
Contributing to peer reviews and functional assurance activities across the portfolio
Preparing clear communication and reporting for internal and external stakeholders
About You You’re an experienced, proactive, and collaborative Projects Engineer who brings strong technical foundations and practical project delivery experience. You’re comfortable coordinating complex interfaces, managing contractors, and working within structured governance frameworks.
Qualifications
A degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with proven relevant industry experience
Proven experience delivering electrical projects in industrial, civil, or commercial settings
Strong understanding of design and construction processes of electrical projects
Ability to interpret engineering drawings and apply technical details to problem solve
Experience with LV/HV electrical systems, control systems, quality control processes, and HSE monitoring will be highly regarded
Experience working on project or construction sites, including permit‑to‑work and high‑risk activities
Proven capability in contractor management and project administration (cost control, scheduling, reporting)
Sound commercial awareness and experience working with procurement, legal and commercial teams (contract management)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
