About the role:
An exciting opportunity to plan and influence the transport outcomes in the Hills Shire which has rapidly growing population and evolving transport network. Council is seeking an experienced transport engineer to review of transport studies associated with development applications and planning proposals to ensure the transport impacts are understood with suitable mitigation measures identified to reduce the impact of private car travel and road congestion.
What this role looks like:
* Support the transport assessment of development applications and planning proposals.
* Provide design advice for road infrastructure projects including road safety
* Provide supporting technical advice on active transport, public transport and road infrastructure and public transport services.
* Investigate requests for road openings or public utility issues impacting on councils assets.
* Support the review and undertake modelling investigations.
* Support the preparation of standards, codes, information and fact sheets.
* Provide technical advice and guidance on road planning.
What are we seeking in our new team member:
* Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related discipline
* Drivers Licence (Class C) – NSW
* 2+ years experience in Transport Engineering or Local Government engineering or a related field
* Knowledge of transport management principles, road design standards, and relevant legislation, including the NSW Roads Act, and Local Government regulations.
* Transport engineering, including road safety audits, intersection design, traffic modelling, and parking studies
* Analysing data, identify trends, and develop evidence-based recommendations for congestion management, safety improvements, and infrastructure upgrades.
* Ability to support planning proposals and precinct rezonings for transport impacts, ensuring alignment with council objectives and sustainable growth.

Permanent full-time role, salary $107K + Superannuation
