The Role
The Mechanical Operator roles play a key part in developing and operating the Mardie Salt Operations in line with BCI Minerals' strategy and business plan. Reporting to the Operational Maintenance Superintendent, these positions support the Sulphate of Potash (SOP) Project through construction, commissioning and ramp‐up, before transitioning into steady‐state operations. The Mechanical Operators are responsible for safely operating and maintaining fixed plant and equipment, carrying out preventative, corrective and breakdown maintenance, executing maintenance strategies, completing calibrations, and supporting equipment restarts following shutdowns or trips. Working closely with maintenance, electrical, project and production teams, they help ensure asset integrity, statutory compliance and continuity of production in a challenging operating environment.
About You
* Mechanical trade qualification with relevant post‐trade experience, ideally in mining, salt, SOP or coastal environments.
* Proven experience supporting construction, commissioning and operational plant activities.
* Strong mechanical aptitude with sound fault‐finding and troubleshooting skills, particularly with pumps and fixed plant.
* Experience with preventative maintenance, asset management and CMMS systems.
* Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Strong focus on safety, risk assessment and statutory compliance.
* Clear communication, accurate reporting skills and a continuous improvement mindset.
Requirements
The successful candidate will need to provide a national police clearance that is not older than 3 months and, if site based, hold a W A White Card. You must have current unrestricted working rights for Australia to be eligible for consideration.
