The Position An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Urology Surgeon to join a high-performing urology team within a major North Queensland hospital.
You will provide comprehensive surgical care - including open, laparoscopic, endoscopic and robotic-assisted procedures - across a wide range of urological pathologies and patient ages.
In this senior role, you will contribute to clinical governance, service development, and patient safety, while supporting workforce management and fostering a positive, collegiate team environment.
Education, training and research are central to the role, with responsibility for supervising junior medical staff and trainees, and driving continuous improvement across the department.
The Hospital This major tertiary referral centre with more than 600 beds, providing advanced surgical, medical and critical care services to a catchment of over 250,000 people across 150,000km2.
The hospital includes an ICU, interventional radiology, PET scanning, radiation oncology and a full range of specialty services.
The Urology Department performs more than 600 operations and 500 outpatient procedures each year, offering open, laparoscopic, endoscopic and robotic-assisted surgery.
The hospital has also partnered with another major hospital to expand robotic surgical capability and is preparing for future kidney transplantation services.
The department comprises one Staff Consultant, two VMOs, one SET Trainee, five PHOs and three junior doctors.
