ABOUT THE ROLE
We are looking for an experienced and reliable Field Service Leading Hand to coordinate field service activities across Mount Isa and surrounding regional customer sites. This hands‑on role focuses on safe, efficient maintenance practices and delivering high‑quality service.
You will plan daily and upcoming work, communicate with customers, support technicians in the field, and uphold SMH Equipment's operational and safety standards. This position offers a 7/7 roster with both Residential and FIFO options available.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Maintenance & Repair Coordination: Oversee field maintenance activities, support diagnostics and repairs, and ensure quality workmanship.
* Job Preparation: Pre-plan tasks including resource scheduling, parts ordering and scope review.
* Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate and timely job documentation across all field activities.
* Stakeholder Communication: Ensure clear and effective communication with customers and internal teams.
* Safety & Compliance: Lead safe work practices, conduct risk assessments, and follow all safety and environmental procedures.
* Team Leadership: Provide hands on mentoring, technical guidance, and support to field technicians.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING
* Trade qualification as a Diesel Fitter or equivalent.
* Minimum 3+ years post trade experience.
* Strong diagnostic and repair capability across heavy mobile equipment.
* Proven leadership and supervisory experience.
* Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide technicians.
* Excellent communication, organisation, and customer service skills.
* High attention to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
* Current Drivers Licence.
