* 2 x part‐time roles (permanent & fixed‐term to Dec 2026)
* Salary: Band 5 - $78,154.75 to $90,691.48 pro rata + superannuation

The opportunity

We have not one, but two exciting opportunities available for a Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HS&W) Officer to join our People and Culture team at Hobsons Bay City Council. One role is permanent and the other is fixed term, until December 2026.

In this role, you'll play a key part in supporting the health, safety, wellbeing and child safety of our people. Working closely with the Head of, Health, Safety & Wellbeing and business partners across Council, you'll help foster a positive, risk‐aware safety culture while ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.

What You'll Be Doing
* Support the delivery of workplace health, safety, wellbeing and child safety initiatives across Council
* Provide frontline advice and guidance to managers and employees on OHS, injury management and wellbeing matters
* Assist with identifying and assessing workplace health and safety risks and support leaders to implement effective controls
* Contribute to the ongoing improvement and administration of Council's OHS Management System
* Conduct workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments, and assist with incident investigations and reporting
* Support injury management and return‐to‐work programs in collaboration with business partners
* Assist in the planning and delivery of wellbeing programs, including mental health initiatives and employee support activities
* Maintain accurate records, documentation and reports, ensuring compliance with privacy and confidentiality requirements

What You'll Need To Succeed
* A Diploma or Certificate qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Wellbeing or a related discipline, or significant relevant experience
* A Return‐to‐Work Coordinator qualification (or willingness to obtain)
* Working knowledge of OHS legislation, risk management and injury management practices
* Experience in a health, safety, wellbeing or compliance‐focused role, ideally within local government or a similar environment
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across all levels of the organisation
* Well‐developed administrative and organisational skills, with strong attention to detail
* The ability to work collaboratively within a team while also managing tasks independently

Pre-Employment Requirements

Progressed candidates will be required to complete a National Police Record Check & a Working With Children Check (WWCC).

Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or hold a valid work permit or visa with full unrestricted working rights. Work eligibility will be checked as part of the recruitment process.
