Who we are
The Enterprise Strategy and Governance Division works across the department to deliver services such as media and communications, engagement, governance, planning, reporting and risk management. The division provides direct support to the Minister’s office via the Parliamentary and Ministerial Services Team and manages Parliamentary and Cabinet business for the department. It also advises the executive and business areas on portfolio strategy, including developing and embedding the department’s strategic purpose, objectives, priorities, vision and values. We are leading an organisational capability uplift program and driving a more integrated approach to budget and financial planning and decision-making. The division is establishing a new Emergency Preparedness and Management Branch to create a hub for emergency management within the department and develop a whole-of-enterprise, all hazards emergency management model.
The Communication and Media Branch delivers internal and corporate communication and strategic communication activities in support of the department and our ministers, for the benefit of the Australian community. This includes managing the department’s social media strategy and social media presence, media support services across the department and for our ministers’ offices, production services including graphic design and branding, Web publishing for external-facing departmental websites, and the development of campaign and non-campaign materials.
The Digital, Design and Editing Section is a multi-disciplinary team of creative thinkers, designers, videographers, writers, editors and digital specialists. We believe in the power of connecting user needs with departmental objectives through the delivery of clear, concise, audience and task-focused communication products.
The Job
Duties include delivering high quality, brand compliant graphic design products for print and digital mediums including:
* Developing and/or carrying out design briefs from start to finish.
* Developing storyboards from brief to mock ups and ready art for print and web publication.
* Developing branded messages for our key stakeholders and generating ideas, as part of the broader team, for new creative directions.
* Implementing and monitoring the department’s branding and providing advice and technical assistance in brand compliance.
* Collaboratively managing priorities and workloads (including assisting other designers where required) and contributing to the team’s work processes and workflow.
* Promoting and contributing to the development of the design team’s capability.
* Contributing to research, analysis and reporting on the design team’s activity.
* Contributing to the further development of the department’s style guidelines.
* Managing digital assets and ensuring graphic files meet industry standards.
* Continuing the development of your professional knowledge and expertise in graphic design to professional skill levels.

Knowledge and experience
* Proven in-depth knowledge and extensive experience in Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat.
* Strong working knowledge of contemporary design principles and brand development.
* Tertiary qualification (Graphic Design or similar) and demonstrated professional experience in graphic design (print and digital).

Citizenship - To be eligible for employment with the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry you must be an Australian citizen.
Security Clearance - This position requires a None security clearance.
Pre-employment Check - Your suitability for employment will be assessed through a pre-employment screening process. This process includes a requirement to undergo and satisfy a National Police Check, referee checks, character clearance and where required a pre-employment medical assessment, specified mandatory qualification(s) validation and a probation period of 6 months.
MSIC and ASIC Licences – If the position requires unescorted access within an aviation or maritime security zone, you will be required to obtain and maintain an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC) or Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC).
