Join Vertical Scope Group's (VSG) client in Canberra as we seek a driven, highly skilled and competent, NV1 cleared Senior Project Officer to support a complex federal Defence ICT program based in Canberra.
As a Senior Project Officer, you will provide specialist risk, benefits and program assurance support across a complex Defence ICT program spanning acquisition, early sustainment, and transition into service. Operating under broad direction, you will establish, maintain and assure risk and benefits management documentation across the full program lifecycle, supporting governance bodies and enabling informed decision-making.
About you
* Demonstrated capability and relevant experience performing risk management functions within a complex ICT program environment.
* Proven experience delivering risk management, benefits realisation, and/or program assurance functions within Defence or a comparable large-scale ICT delivery environment.
* Ability to effectively engage, influence and operate within a multi-stakeholder environment, including acquisition teams, sustainment organisations and operational users.
* Demonstrated practical application of recognised risk and benefits management frameworks and governance processes, including ISO 31000, MSP, the Defence Risk Management Framework and Defence capability governance.
* Strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple program and system lifecycle stages.
* NV1 Security Clearance required.
* Must be Canberra based.
Technical skills
* Risk, benefits and program assurance experience in Defence or similar ICT environments.
* Application of ISO 31000, MSP and Defence risk and capability governance.
* Managing risk and benefits across ICT lifecycle stages.
* Working across acquisition, sustainment and operational ICT stakeholders.
* Risk or project management certifications.
* Defence ICT acquisition or sustainment experience.
* Knowledge of ICT architecture, cybersecurity and operational readiness.
About the role
* Maintain and enhance risk and benefits registers that reflect the program's hybrid lifecycle, including acquisition-related risks, sustainment dependencies and transition-to-operations considerations.
* Assess legacy risks and benefits to ensure they remain relevant as the program moves from acquisition into operational acceptance and sustainment.
* Conduct and facilitate workshops with stakeholders, coordinating reviews and assessments on the adequacy and effectiveness of controls for the project's risks, issues and benefits.
* Support transition planning by identifying risks and benefits associated with operational readiness, training, support arrangements and handover to sustainment organisations.
* Prepare briefs, dashboards and reports for governance forums and assurance activities.
* Provide specialist advice to project staff and stakeholders on risk and benefits management practices.
* Identify opportunities to streamline or modernise risk and benefits processes, particularly where legacy practices no longer suit the program's current maturity or lifecycle stage.
* Exercise sound judgement and operate with a high degree of autonomy in a complex, multi-phase program environment.
