Ocean Freight Specialist – Matraville, Sydney
Job Purpose: The role will manage and oversee all shipment execution activities as the primary point of contact for customers, ensuring service commitments are prioritised and strong client relationships are fostered to identify upselling opportunities. By optimising profitability through strategic routing, accurate invoicing, and dispute resolution, the role holder will maintain regulatory compliance and promptly address customer concerns.
Key Responsibilities
* Complete all shipment level activities including receipt of customer booking, documentation requirements, and all related local and international transport.
* Ensure that all relevant quality KPIs are met or over achieved on a consistent basis.
* Act as the first point of contact for customers regarding shipment information, exception/complaint management and claims.
* Manage shipment routing and assignment to ensure service commitments are met and profit is maximised, while preparing accurate invoices and supporting documentation and addressing disputes.
* Implement necessary regulatory compliance procedures relating to commodity and location for shipments.
* Identify potential upselling opportunities and attend customer visits to promote growth and retention.
* Resolve day‐to‐day delivery issues and implement best practices to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
* Resolve supplier performance issues, proposing solutions to improve performance and processes.
* Execute any other duties assigned by the manager that fall within the general scope of the role.
Key Accountabilities
* Proactively oversee customer shipments to ensure satisfaction at every touchpoint and foster loyalty.
* Minimise cost and maximise gross profit on every job file.
* Resolve issues with operational workflow based on customer feedback, escalating only when necessary.
* Ensure all required documentation is in place as per shipment requirements and SOP.
