Your new company
You'll be joining a fast‑growing construction and property development organisation with a strong presence across North Queensland. The business delivers complex residential, commercial, and land development projects and is entering a major expansion phase. With growth comes the need for stronger financial leadership, deeper commercial insight, and a more mature approach to risk management.
This is an owner‑led, agile environment where decisions are made quickly, ideas are welcomed, and financial clarity plays a central role in shaping strategy. The leadership team is focused on strengthening governance, improving forecasting accuracy, and building the financial capability required for long‑term success.
Your new role
Stepping into this senior leadership role, you will serve as the Director's key financial and commercial partner-the person who transforms operational activity into clear strategic direction. This position goes far beyond traditional accounting; it sits at the centre of how the organisation assesses opportunities, manages risk, strengthens margins, and plans for sustainable growth. You will bring clarity to performance, rigorously test assumptions, and provide structured, data‑driven insight that enables confident, timely decision‑making. Your work will directly shape strategy, enhance governance, support development feasibility and build the financial frameworks required for future expansion.
Key areas of impact include:
* Maintaining rolling GP, overhead, and cashflow forecasts to give leadership real‑time visibility
* Building scenario models for wins, delays, cost changes, and risk exposure
* Strengthening tendering outcomes through deep margin and pricing analysis
* Identifying financial and program risk early - enabling fast, informed decisions
* Translating complex financial data into clear, actionable options for the Director
* Supporting feasibility modelling and long‑term development planning
* Enhancing internal reporting systems, governance, and financial discipline
* Supporting lender, investor, and banking conversations as the business continues to scale
What you'll need to succeed
You'll bring strong commercial acumen and confidence operating in a fast‑paced, project‑driven environment. Experience in construction, property development, civil infrastructure, or commercial finance within project‑based industries will be highly regarded. With 7+ years in a commercial or project‑focused finance role, you'll be skilled in forecasting, scenario modelling, and margin analysis.
You approach challenges with a calm, structured mindset and can challenge assumptions using data‑driven logic. You excel at turning strategic intent into practical scenarios and integrating finance, risk, and operations into cohesive insights. Your ability to filter out noise and present clear, actionable options supports efficient, well‑timed decision‑making.
What you'll get in return
Your insight will have a direct impact on performance, margins, and the overall strategic direction of the business.
In return, you'll receive a competitive salary package, meaningful influence over commercial strategy, the chance to design financial frameworks for a growing organisation, and a senior role where your decisions genuinely matter.
