About Cyber Security NSW
The Cyber Security NSW is a whole-of-government function within Digital NSW in the Department of Customer Service. We are responsible for ensuring a cyber safe NSW. The protection of our systems and digital information is vital because of the many essential services the NSW Government provides, including health, emergency services, and transport. Furthermore, the exciting digital transformation being undertaken across NSW Government requires similarly enhanced cybersecurity capabilities.
At the centre of this exciting and growing cyber capability, Cyber Security NSW is working across NSW Government to:
* Create a whole-of-government integrated approach to managing cyber risk and responding to cyber security threats.
* Increase cyber skills and awareness.
* Understand the risks from cyber threats to our digital information and systems.
* Set cyber security standards.
* Ensure we are prepared if a damaging cyber incident occurs.
About the Role
Cyber Security NSW is seeking a Senior Cyber Security Advisory Analyst. This is an exciting opportunity to have a direct impact on cyber security resilience across NSW government, through supporting the delivery of a portfolio of strategic initiatives.
We're looking for candidates with a demonstrated track record delivering strategic projects, providing high quality analysis, insights and recommendations, communicating complex technical concepts to business, technology and executive audiences, and expertise in cyber security policy, governance and risk management.
Key Accountabilities
* Develop and lead projects with an aim to ensure continuous improvement of NSW Government's cyber security posture.
* Develop reports, perform analysis and provide advice and recommendations to uplift cyber security risk management, assurance, investment prioritisation, and governance practices across the sector.
* Conduct research on cyber security best practices, and keep up-to-date with the latest trends and issues in IT and cyber security risks and solutions, to provide recommendations on innovations and best practices to improve cyber security posture across NSW Government.
* Support key aspects of project development, implementation, management and closure across a portfolio of complex projects to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and in line with best practice project management methodology.
* Develop and manage relationships with stakeholders across the sector to ensure stakeholders are engaged, consulted and project deliverables are met.
* Identify stakeholder requirements and prioritise workload to meet agreed outcomes and timeframes to ensure prompt resolution of issues.
* Provide expert advice and information to stakeholders on emerging project issues and present recommendations to support project delivery in line with established plans, budgets, timeframes, policy objectives and other project priorities.
* Lead the delivery of best practice advice, guidelines, policies and procedures that uplift All of Government (AoG) cyber security and successfully deliver policy priorities of the Cyber Security Governance and Risk Improvement Program.
About You
* Demonstrated experience in roles related to cyber security policy, governance, or capability uplift.
* A strong ability to think strategically and align cyber security initiatives with broader government policy and objectives.
* Proven experience in tracking project progress, managing risks, and ensuring delivery within defined scope, timelines, and quality standards.
* Demonstrated capability to conduct comprehensive risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies in line with compliance frameworks and organisational policies.
* Experience delivering and managing projects, performing analysis, and developing recommendations for continued improvement programs.
* Tertiary qualifications or formal accreditations in related discipline.
* Proven ability to engage effectively with both technical and non‐technical stakeholders, fostering strong relationships and facilitating clear, impactful communication.
* Be an Australian Citizen and have or be able to attain and maintain an NV1 security clearance, and willingness to undergo a Police check as a condition of employment.
