**Pharmacy Technician** -Grade 3**
**Full Time Ongoing Position** 
**38 Hours per week**

The Pharmacy Department provides a comprehensive pharmacy service to all patients of the hospital. Our major areas of focus are the safe use of medicines and the quality use of medicines; providing information as required to consumers and health care professionals. We liaise with nursing and midwifery staff, medical staff and allied health professionals as part of the multidisciplinary team caring for our patients. The Pharmacy Department has a culture of continually reviewing processes, to deliver quality services efficiently.
We seek a keen and enthusiastic pharmacy technician with initiative, to join our professional and friendly team.
The successful applicant will participate in a wide range of pharmacy services in all areas of the department. 
- Provide comprehensive support for the provision of pharmacy services for the Royal Women's Hospital and Frances Perry House. 
- Responsible for organising and co-ordinating of work in the rostered areas in a safe and efficient manner and within their scope of practice, under the supervision of a registered pharmacist 
- Working collaboratively with pharmacy team members and other staff to maintain and supports the pharmacy activities relevant to the roles of the pharmacy technicians. 
- The role consists of providing support to pharmacists which may include but not limited to:Assist in the day to day functioning of the pharmacy department. Ensure appropriate standard of presentation and maintenance of work area(s) 
- Impresting - preparation and delivery of stock to ward areas; maintenance of medication rooms/shelves to comply with Infection Control and safety standards; 
- Dispensary - dispensing of inpatient, outpatient and discharge medications; PBS management; coordinate and maintain dispensary areas to ensure efficiency in dispensary; 
- Preparation of extemporaneous products and pre-packing; 
- Procurement - purchasing; coordinate and responsible for optimal stock control; assist in stock management and stocktaking;Participate in the review of relevant procedures on request. 
- Assist with various additional departmental duties as required, in times of staff shortage. 
- Participate in weekend roster as required. 
- Cover for G4 pharmacy technician as required. 
- Be respectful of the needs of patients, visitors and other staff and maintain a professional approach to all interactions. 
- Promote the role of the pharmacy technician as an essential member of the healthcare team.
**About you**
To be successful within this role you will need to have:
- Applicants are required to have completed Certificate III and IV in Health (Hospital Pharmacy Technician) or equivalent. 
- A minimum of 3 years full time experience as a qualified pharmacy technician in a hospital pharmacy 
- Attention to detail 
- Energy, dedication and commitment 
- Ability to work well in both a team workplace & with mínimal supervision 
- Excellent organisation skills 
- Good oral and written communication skills and practical experience with computers are essential
