Expressions of interest blind bored ventilation shaft project (bundaberg central)

Bundaberg
Abergeldie Complex Infrastructure
Posted: 6 October
Offer description

Overview

Abergeldie has been engaged to deliver one of the most technically challenging underground projects in Australia, the design and construction of two blind-bored ventilation shafts as part of a gold-copper mine expansion in Western Australia. The complex scope includes;

- Two shafts developed concurrently, each approximately 430 metre deep.
- 6.2 metre cut diameter, finished at 5 metre internal diameter.
- Significant surface civil works, permanent composite liners, annular grout and shaft cover.

Projects of this scale and complexity are exceptionally rare in Australia, making this a unique prospect for tunnelling and underground professionals.

We are specialists in the delivery of complex underground infrastructure throughout Australia and New Zealand, with proven expertise in various forms of tunnelling and shaft construction in both the civil infrastructure and mining industries. Our in-house fleet of Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs) is equipped to handle a range of ground conditions, and our world-leading deep shaft blind boring rigs, among the largest globally, are owned, operated and maintained by our skilled teams.

About the Opportunities

Our tunnelling team is growing, and we are seeking expressions of interest for this ventilation shaft project as well as other upcoming tunnelling projects.

We are looking for experienced Project Managers, Supervisors, and Skilled Workers. If you have specialist skills in blind boring or other complex tunnelling works, we would love to hear from you.

These roles will be FIFO (ideally from the East Coast) to Western Australia. Beyond this project, there will be further opportunities across the Eastern states, so please let us know your location and availability in your application.

This is one of WA’s most remote projects, set in a striking desert landscape. Even though the site is remote, employees enjoy a modern village lifestyle with private rooms, gyms, sports courts, and diverse dining options, making life on roster both comfortable and social.

The project runs on a 2:1 rotation, with three shifts operating 24/7. For those travelling from the East Coast, flights depart Sunday afternoon and return the following Monday, giving approximately 5.5 days at home per 3-week cycle.

Interested? Apply Now!

This is a rare opportunity to work on one of the deepest and most technically specialised blind bored shaft projects in Australia.

If you are ready to take on this challenge, apply now to register your interest or contact for more information.
