About The Role
The Residential Youth Worker supports a team under the supervision of a Care Coordinator, providing stability, consistency, and security for the children and young people in our care.
This role requires the capacity to work day shifts, night shifts, sleepovers, weekends, and public holidays.
About You
To be successful, you will demonstrate resilience, patience, and unconditional positive regard while working with challenging behaviors.
You will also act as an appropriate adult role model, engaging children and young people in purposeful activities aimed at developing life skills and self-worth.
* Embedding practice frameworks into daily habits
* Providing detailed written reports following policy and legislative requirements
* Supporting involvement of family and significant others
* Engaging stakeholders within the community to support development of children and young people
* Providing essential needs for the children and young people
* Supporting children and young people with complex needs and disabilities
Required qualifications include a Certificate IV or higher in Youth and Community Services or a related field, a current blue card, an open driver's license, and LCS clearance obtained within the last 2 years.
Preferred Criteria
While not essential, we value candidates with:
* Minimum 6-12 months experience working with children/young people with complex behaviors, mental health, trauma backgrounds, and/or disability
* Experience working within Child Protection Residential Care Programs
* Experience attending multi-disciplinary meetings and adhering to behavioral and safety plans
