Job Description

The Payroll & Compliance Specialist will be responsible for:

* Supporting ongoing compliance with superannuation guarantee and payroll tax obligations across employee and contractor workforces.
* Reviewing payroll and expenditure transactions to support accurate calculations, reporting, and compliance outcomes.
* Documenting payroll methodologies and workings to strengthen governance and audit readiness.
* Supporting organisational readiness for payday superannuation, including collaboration with payroll, finance, treasury, AP, tax, and risk stakeholders.
* Providing specialist advice on payroll treatment for employees and contractors, including OTE, contribution timing, reporting obligations, and exception handling.
* Identifying opportunities to improve payroll processes and systems to enhance long‐term compliance confidence.

The Successful Applicant

A successful Payroll & Compliance professional should have:

* Demonstrated experience in Australian payroll compliance, across both employees and contractors.
* Strong working knowledge of superannuation guarantee obligations (OTE, calculations, employee vs contractor assessments).
* Strong knowledge of payroll tax compliance, including state‐based variations and contractor determinations.
* Proven ability to analyse large datasets, with strong Excel capability.
* Experience producing clear, defensible compliance documentation.
* Sound understanding of payroll systems, configuration, and process design.
* A detail‐oriented, analytical approach with the confidence to identify compliance risks.
* The ability to operate independently in a short‐term, delivery‐focused contractor role.
