Overview
Our newsagency and gift store is a community-oriented business operating within our family for over 28 years. The store trades 7 days a week, 363 days a year. Trading hours are Monday–Friday 7:00am to 5:30pm, Saturday 7:00am–3:00pm, and Sunday 7:30am–12:00pm. The right candidate must be available to work any hours during these times. The role is initially a casual position with the intention of becoming a part time position for the right candidate. Experience in customer services is preferred but not essential as full training will be provided.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in a customer service role is preferred
- Previous experience in a retail environment is preferred (but not essential)
- Merchandising skills are preferred (but not essential)
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality, enthusiastic and friendly customer service
- Build and maintain relationships with regular customers, working in line with the company’s values
- Work within a team environment
- Independently motivated and able to work without supervision
- Opening and closing duties including securing cash and premises
- A keen eye for presentation, setting up displays for in-store promotions
- Work closely with suppliers to plan product ranges
- Order and manage levels and distribution of stock
- Assess sales performance of different ranges
- Willingness to work towards key performance indicators
- Assist with maintaining a clean and tidy premises

- Positive, friendly and enthusiastic personality
- Willingness to take responsibility and work independently
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and actively contribute in all day-to-day tasks
- Strong attention to detail
- Be well organized, punctual and reliable
- Award wages (with opportunities to earn above award wage)
- Working in a family owned and run business with multiple ranges of products, with intentions to expand further
