Your new role
As the Assistant Depot Manager, you will support the Depot Manager in leading a small team to deliver exceptional customer service. You'll assist customers in sorting recyclable materials and ensure they receive the correct refund. This is a hands-on role involving both team leadership and operational duties. Your responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Leading and motivating a team to provide excellent customer service
* Sorting recyclable items into correct categories
* Assisting customers and encouraging repeat visits
* Handling cash and balancing the float daily
* Performing cleaning and manual handling tasks across the depot
* Ensuring health and safety procedures are followed and risks are reported
* Identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction
* Supporting staff training and development for safe and effective operations
What you'll need to succeed
You bring strong leadership experience and a background in customer-facing roles such as retail, hospitality, or warehouse operations. You'll also have:
* Experience leading small to medium-sized teams
* A moderate level of fitness for manual handling tasks
* Excellent communication and a proactive, customer-first attitude
* Basic computer skills
* A forklift license (desirable but not essential)
* Ability to pass a pre-employment medical and police check
* Willingness to comply with a strict drug and alcohol policy
