About the role
The North Adult Community mental health team deliver a timely and consistent service to consumers/families/carers requiring mental health support, undertaking bio-psychosocial assessments and providing ongoing treatment in collaboration with the consumer, families and carers, the MDT, and other supportive agencies to achieve agreed goals and outcomes. Clinicians use a recovery framework, focusing on a strengths-based approach.
Senior community clinicians are required to work a rostered function covering weekends to facilitate urgent assessments and support to clients in their own homes, ED, medical wards and clients from youth and aged services. The duty function includes assessments over the telephone and medication management/support.
Key Responsibilities
1. Provide evidence based and best practice clinical assessments, identify and prioritise clients’ needs and develop risk management plans.
2. Attend Mental Health Tribunals and ensure consumers rights are met under the Mental Health Act 2022.
3. Co-ordinate crisis assessments and admissions to mental health inpatients unit.
4. Monitor physical health conditions and promote physical wellbeing.
5. Monitor efficacy of medication
6. Develop recovery plans in collaboration with consumers, families and carers, prioritise and action areas identified.
7. Support clinicians, providing education and clinical supervision.
8. Act as team leader in their absence.
Skills and experience
9. Clinical experience in a range of mental health settings, including inpatient/community mental health.
10. Well-developed mental health assessment skills
11. Good knowledge of the Mental Health Act 2022 and other relevant legislation
12. Good knowledge of the recovery model and how this informs engagement with consumers.
13. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
14. Ability to prioritise workload and respond to crisis situations.

This position is paid in accordance with the Victorian Public Mental Health Services Enterprise Agreement. The classification is Registered Psychiatric Nurse Grade 4 (NP75 – NP77) which ranges from $56.07 - $60.38 per hour.
