(pro rata for part time) 17% superannuation About the opportunity We are seeking an experienced Research & Ethics Officer to help facilitate population health research at the Charles Perkins Centre Epidemiology Hub focused on investigating cardiovascular disease, diabetes, obesity and other related conditions across the lifespan. The Research & Ethics Officer will be involved in the preparation of research protocols and grant applications, manage ethics and data applications for the access and use of linked administrative health data. They will also liaise with multiple stakeholders, including hospital, state and Commonwealth ethics and governance teams and data linkage units, as well as collaborate and work with clinicians, researchers and professional staff. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and have demonstrated experience working in a research environment and preparing and submitting ethics applications using REGIS system for projects involving secondary use of data. This position will be based at the University of Sydney Camperdown campus. Your key responsibilities will be to : Contribute to the preparation of research protocols, grant applications and research publications Prepare and submit data access and ethics applications and organise data custodian approvals Co-ordinate and submit annual progress reports and amendment requests to ethics and governance, grant and other funding bodies Conduct literature searches, collate relevant academic papers, extract key information, and summarise findings and results Act as the point of contact for external data custodians, data linkage units, and ethics committees Liaise with multiple stakeholders, including clinicians, researchers, ethics committees, data linkage units, and data custodians Provide research, administrative and operational support for the team, as required About you To be successful in this role you will need to have: Tertiary qualifications in public health, medical, psychology or related field Demonstrated experience working in a research environment, conducting literature reviews and writing reports and preparing protocols and/or manuscripts for peer-review publication Demonstrated experience in preparing and submitting ethics applications using online state and national ethics platforms such as REGIS An understanding of administrative health data, and experience conducting statistical analysis Knowledge of the NHMRC National Statement on Ethical Conduct in Human Research, state and Commonwealth health records and privacy principles, Five safe and FAIR principles, and Australian code for responsible conduct of research Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with a variety of internal and external stakeholders Experience working independently and collaboratively to achieve research goals Sponsorship / work rights for Australia You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to apply.
