About the Opportunity
As a key member of the Quality Team, the Quality Assurance (QA) Advisor will provide Quality Assurance services within the In‑Service Support Business Unit based in Cairns.
Responsibilities
The role of the QA Advisor includes the following activities to support the maintenance and continuous improvement of the deployed Quality Management System (QMS):
* Conduct audits and report on compliance with Quality policies and procedures in line with the Austal Internal Audit Schedule.
* Document quality issues and performance measures for management review.
* Develop corrective actions from root‑cause analysis activities.
* Assist in the maintenance and deployment of QMS documentation.
* Assist with implementation of non‑conformance trend analysis and develop QA alerts as required.
* Support Business Unit Managers by undertaking quality investigations upon request.
Essential Qualifications
* Diploma or recognised equivalency certification in Quality Assurance, Lean Management, Engineering or Project Management.
* Previous experience working within a manufacturing, supply chain or project management environment.
* Well‑developed planning and organisational skills.
* Well‑developed communication skills in both written and spoken format.
Desirable Qualifications
* Demonstrated knowledge of ISO and of working within Quality Management systems as they apply to shipbuilding, defence, oil & gas, supply chain and/or manufacturing.
* Previous industry experience working in a Quality Assurance / Quality Control role.
* Internal auditor training.
* Strong numeracy skills.
* Developing analytical, problem‑solving skills and systematic thinking.
