Tow Truck Operator – Bridges & Towing
About the role
Stornoway is now accepting expressions of interest from applicants seeking a permanent full-time Tow Truck Operator position within our Bridges & Towing team.
The roles’ primary function is to make sure specified high traffic areas remain at optimal traffic flow by ensuring disturbances such as accidents, clearway parking, and breakdowns are removed safely, efficiently, and professionally.
This role requires candidates with the ability and technical expertise to undertake a variety of works associated with towing operations. These functions include -
* Driving and operating tilt tray trucks / wheel lifts
* Traffic control / Traffic management
* Working at extreme heights
* Professionally interacting with members of the public
* Safey removing vehicles from a location
* Delivering vehicles to a designated destination undamaged
* Responding to and dealing with road trauma incidents
* Working around water
* General labouring and more

To be considered for this role, applicants will need to be able to satisfy the following mandatory selection criteria (applicants who can also demonstrate the desirable criteria would be highly regarded):
* A good driving record
* A current MR or HR vehicle license
* General Safety Induction White Card
* Traffic Control and Management qualifications
* Perform CPR + Provide First Aid (or ability to obtain)
* The ability to calmly and confidently work in road trauma scenes
* The ability to confidently and competently perform work at extreme heights
* Confidence and competence working with mobile digital devices and platforms
* The ability to work individually and unsupervised, or as a team
* Highly developed attention to detail, organisational, time management, and accuracy skills
* Strong understanding of civil and safety principles and practices
* Proven ability to manage multiple tasks / functions in a timely and accurate manner
* Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
* Competent written and verbal communication skills
* Must be an Australian Resident or hold an Australian Working VISA with rights to work
Desirable criteria include:
* Experience driving and operating tilt tray trucks / wheel lifts
* Experience dealing with electric vehicles
* Previous experience as a Tow Truck operator
* A valid and current Working With Vulnerable People card
