Monash Health Radiology Abdominal Fellow/SFR Trainee

Applications are invited from qualified medical practitioners, registered in Australia, for the position of Monash Health Radiology Abdominal Fellow/Systems Focused Rotation (SFR) Trainee. The position would best suit a doctor who is wishing to extend the knowledge in basic science and practice of abdominal imaging and gain experience at this level.

About Monash Health Radiology

Radiology at Monash Health incorporates a full range of services including CT, US, MRI, DEXA, PET, Nuclear Medicine, X‐Ray, Lithotripsy, OPG, Mammography, Fluoroscopy and Interventional and Therapeutic imaging services at the Monash Medical Centre – Clayton; Monash Children's Hospital, Clayton; Dandenong Hospital, Dandenong; Casey Hospital, Berwick; Moorabbin Hospital, Bentleigh East; Kingston Centre, Cheltenham and the Pakenham Health Centre, Pakenham. Imaging also supports the Monash University Biomedical Imaging site including MRI and PET MRI. The service provides over 365,000 imaging examinations per year across all sites, currently employs approximately 500 EFT and has a gross operating budget in excess of $100M.

The Radiology program clearly defines its mission as the delivery of leading‐edge, evidence‐based diagnostic and therapeutic imaging services and research and education that meets the needs of our community and employees. About the Role

Work as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide safe and effective patient‐centred care, provide teaching and supervision of resident medical staff and students and undertake training towards attaining Fellowship of the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Radiologists (FRANZCR).

You will be required to undertake assessment and reporting of patient imaging studies and participate in their management in consultation with a supervising Consultant. You are expected to be lead Radiologist in several subspecialty Multidisciplinary Team Meetings with the support and supervision of an appropriate Consultant Radiologist.

Participation in the evening and weekend roster is expected.

This position is based across all Monash Health campuses, with the Abdominal Imaging Fellow predominantly rostered to the Clayton Campus and occasionally Dandenong Hospital.

* Working in a large tertiary centre with a very large volume of subspecialty Abdominal Imaging across Ultrasound, CT, MRI, PET and Nuclear Medicine.

* Large volume of Oncology imaging, tracking patients' journey from initial diagnosis and exposure to the multiple Oncology trials run at Monash Health.
* Working closely with the large Colorectal, Hepatobiliary, Upper GI and Urology Surgical Units at Monash Health.
* Exposure to a large volume of MDTs, capturing the breadth and depth of diagnostic Abdominal Radiology, including Liver Mass MDT, Hepatobiliary surgery, Upper GI surgery, Colorectal surgery, Gastro Pathology, IBD and Urology.
* Supervision by subspecialist Radiologists who are fellowship trained in Diagnostic and Interventional Abdominal Radiology.
* Exposure to advanced Abdominal and Pelvic MRI techniques.
* Opportunities for research in Abdominal Radiology, MRI as well as advanced imaging techniques and artificial intelligence, under the supervision of Radiologists and Radiological Scientists.
* Maintain general skills in Emergency Radiology and Stroke imaging through participation in the evening and weekend roster.

About You

* Demonstrate a commitment to profession‐led regulation.
* Demonstrate a high level commitment to ethical practice.
* Demonstrate an ability to effectively manage matters of patient safety and quality of care.
* Understand the role of the relevant college and the associated expectations of the Registrar/advanced trainee role.
* Commit to one research project during your appointment, with the guidance and support of both the Divisional Head and Deputy Divisional Head Body Division, Abdominal Imaging.

What you need

* A medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) which is recognised for registration by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.
* Trainee of relevant medical college.
* Part II FRANZCR and at least 4 years of registrar training.
* Victorian Employee Working with Children Check.
