Job Summary:

This is an EL1 Assistant Director - Investigations position within the organization. The successful candidate will have a leading role in undertaking a range of regulatory, compliance, inspection and strategic support activities.

Key Responsibilities:

* Lead a small team responsible for undertaking and progressing formal regulatory investigations in accordance with AGIS requirements.
* Review and assess enquires related to alleged non-compliance with relevant legislation;
* Resolve alleged non-compliance matters in a timely manner;
* Lead compliance and enforcement activities directly related to the current Compliance and Enforcement Strategy and future strategies;
* Identify appropriate and proportionate escalation pathways to resolve complex non-compliance reports and matters;
* Support and guide team members when alleged non-compliance requires an escalation pathway, including the use of various legislated enforcement tools;
* Undertake thorough, accurate and efficient task relevant research;
* Lead your team in the analysis of information gathered as a result of investigative activities and making informed and proportionate regulatory enforcement recommendations for senior decision makers;
* Regularly demonstrate highly developed legislative interpretation skills;
* Identify, develop and foster enduring relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally;
* Consult, plan and develop work programs for your team and the Section;
* Actively monitor the performance of your team;
* Prepare accurate reports, briefings, correspondence, statutory notices, and other written materials that include sensitive compliance and enforcement information;
* If required, work directly with other authorities in relation to matters under investigation, inquiry, and/or court or tribunal proceedings;
* Develop and lead the preparation of detailed operational policy, procedures, templates and guidance materials to support the Section's compliance and enforcement functions;
* As required, undertake domestic and international travel.
