About the role:
As a Quality System Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring our programs meet the highest quality, safety, and regulatory standards. You will collaborate across engineering, production, suppliers, and executive levels to deliver assurance and compliance for Australia's advanced military platforms.
Your responsibilities include:
* Embedding quality from day one: reviewing proposals, contracts, regulatory & customer requirements
* Crafting and maintaining policies, procedures, and metrics to uphold standards like AS9110, ISO9001, and regulatory expectations
* Driving data analysis, root cause investigations, and proactive problem-solving
* Leading supplier quality reviews and providing assurance support for business decisions
* Conducting hardware, software, and systems audits against standards and regulatory requirements
* Collaborating across teams to uplift quality, safety, and continuous improvement culture
* Supporting material review and dispositioning non-conforming parts
What you'll bring:
Essential:
* 5+ years' experience in Quality Management Systems, aviation, engineering, or related field
* Tertiary qualification in engineering, quality, or equivalent professional experience
* Strong knowledge of ISO9001, AS9110, and practical application
* Analytical problem-solving skills with data-driven decision-making capability
* Ability to influence, engage, and communicate with senior stakeholders
* Lead auditor qualifications or willingness to obtain upon commencement
* Resilient, hands-on mindset with the ability to prioritize in high-pressure environments
* Australian Citizenship (eligible for Defence security clearance)
Desirable:
* Experience with Defence Aviation Safety Regulations (DASR) Parts 145, 21J, and familiarity with Part 21G
* Experience in root cause analysis techniques (e.g., ICAM) and trend analysis
* Exposure to project management or leading cross-functional projects
* Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
