Commence 2026 with this excellent opportunity for an experienced Environmental Scientist, working on meaningful projects that support urban infrastructure and community outcomes. Engaged on a long-term hourly rate contract basis, this position sits within a municipal infrastructure design and planning environment, and forms a part of a multidisciplinary team of ecologists and planners.
You will play a key role in delivering environmental assessment, planning and management activities, working closely with internal stakeholders to ensure projects meet legislative, policy and customer expectations. Responsibilities will include:
* Deliver environmental assessment, planning, management and auditing projects to time, cost and quality objectives.
* Prepare environmental impact assessments and licence/permit applications.
* Provide specialist environmental advice to support infrastructure planning and delivery.
* Interpret and apply Queensland environmental legislation and Council policies.
* Contribute to environmental systems, procedures and standards.
* Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to achieve customer-focused outcomes.
On a personal level, we seek a candidate with the following attributes:
* Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or Planning.
* Sound knowledge of the Queensland environmental legislative framework.
* Experience minimising environmental impacts associated with infrastructure projects.
* Strong communication, report writing and stakeholder engagement skills allied with project coordination / management capabilities.
* Able to work effectively in a team and manage competing priorities.
