Family and Relationship Counselling Program - Family and Relationship Counsellor
Status: Temporary Full-time until 31/01/2027
About the Role
Our Personal, Family and Relationship Counselling Program focuses on the individual client whilst holding in mind a purposeful approach to building capacity and improving relationships with key people in the client's life.
As a Family and Relationship Counsellor, you will work with individuals across the lifespan with a broad range of presenting issues and this may include: providing a range of focused psychological strategies to individuals experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues; working with couples experiencing relationship issues or seeking to separate; providing parenting skills and education sessions; family counselling; working with individual children and young people; and/or timely counselling to our EAP clients.
The program aims to assist all families, couples, individuals and children though we prioritise those most disadvantaged or at risk. The program provides counselling, group work, mediation/support of for separated families, specialised family violence interventions, family law counselling, and family relationship skills and training.
The Family and Relationship Services (FARS) Program is funded by the Australian Governments Department of Social Services, with the expectation that CatholicCare Tasmania will also apply a fee for service policy to clients, according to DSS Guidelines. CatholicCare Tasmania, as a Child Inclusive Agency, is committed to working in the best interests of young people.
About You
* Commitment to the vision, mission and values of CatholicCare Tasmania as informed by the Archbishop's Charter; and a broad understanding of the operation of the Catholic Church in Tasmania.
* Detailed knowledge of issues impacting children, young people and their families, family violence issues, including good understanding of impacting issues such as mental health, substance abuse and poverty, with a minimum of three years of clinical experience.
* Demonstrated experience and training in relationship and family counselling, which may include working with children individually.
* Demonstrated experience in developing, facilitating and evaluating group work programs.
* Demonstrated high-level verbal and written communication skills.
* Proven ability to work within a team environment and network effectively, including resourcefulness and organisation skills.
