What is the role?

Appointments made from this pool process may be on a permanent full-time, part-time, fixed-term contract, with option for extension(s) and/or permanency basis. Currently we are recruiting for the following positions;
JTS17012 (Permanent):
The STEM Strategy and Coordination team at the Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation is looking for a highly motivated individual to lead critical projects, policy development and grant programs to maximise the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) talent pipeline and support future diversification of the economy.
In this permanent role you will manage projects and grants involving key STEM engagement providers, such as Scitech, and you work across industry, school education, VET, university and informal community engagement sectors to advance and measure outcomes and collaboration. You will use your skills in project management, program management and/or policy development, to develop and implement initiatives and measures to further the goals of the State STEM skills strategy within the current government and industry context. You will be a senior member of a dynamic and supportive team, and mentor and support the development and work of other team members.
The STEM Strategy and Coordination team is also looking for a highly motivated individual to lead policy development and stakeholder coordination for the next phase of the State STEM Skills Strategy.
In this fixed term role you will coordinate the development of an update to the strategy to maximise the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) talent pipeline and support future diversification of the economy. You will work across industry, school education, VET, university and informal community engagement sectors, support associated governance and steering/advisory groups and develop associated briefings and papers. You will use your skills in policy development, project management, research and stakeholder consultation to develop and implement policy, initiatives and measures to further the goals of the strategy within the current government and industry context.
