Description

About the role

The primary function is to administer the environmental compliance of East Gippsland Water operations, with support and guidance from the Coordinator Environment and Recycling. This is achieved through the EGW Environment Management System (EMS), utilising in-house risk management systems, site monitoring, internal auditing and incident investigation.

The role also provides support for the administration of EGW's recycled water and biosolids management program. The Officer will respond to wastewater quality exceedances and address customer complaints and enquiries relating to water recycling plants and other wastewater-based assets.

Key Responsibilities

* Maintain the Environmental Management System (EMS), including legal and risk registers for recycled water and biosolids.
* Manage and maintain water quality data within the Water Information Management System (WIMS).
* Support ISO 14001 compliance activities, including audit preparation and continuous improvement.
* Use CAMMS to manage environmental and recycled water risks, actions and controls.
* Coordinate recycled water sampling and analysis to meet licence and guideline requirements.
* Monitor recycled water quality and storage levels, responding to exceedances and escalating issues as required.
* Assist with environmental incident response, including after-hours and emergency support.
* Work with Treatment teams to manage algae in line with the Algae Risk Management Plan.
* Support biosolids storage and reuse programs, including sampling and reporting.
* Respond professionally to recycled water quality enquiries and complaints.
* Apply health, safety and environmental systems, including safe sampling and risk assessments.

Skills And Experiences

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

* Minimum Certificate or diploma in a relevant field or relevant experience in water industry, environment, scientific, engineering or technical role.
* Demonstrated knowledge of environmental management systems or relevant risk management systems such as HACCP or equivalent.
* Time management skills and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and individuals at all organisational levels.
* Demonstrated skills and experience in data management, including use of databases and preparing reports.
* Problem solving and a pro-active approach to delivering outcomes relating to water treatment, wastewater treatment and reuse.
* A positive attitude towards personal development including being accountable, innovative, passionate and united to achieve corporate and team objectives.
