Experience in secretariat, program management and/or contract management is desirable
**Your new company**
This well-known Federal Government Department is seeking an EL1 Secretariat/Program Officer to join their section that supports international and domestic education systems to provide placement and refund/re-credit support. This role has recently become available due to an internal restructure.
**Your new role**
Your role works closely with regulators as well as policy, operational and corporate areas within the Department and other Departments as required. Your duties will include but are not limited to:
- Providing strategic planning, high level paper development, formal correspondence, and overseeing travel and remuneration arrangements as needed.
- Providing high level support to the advisory board, coordinating board meetings, preparing papers and minutes.
- Developing and maintaining an understanding of relevant legislative, policy and procedural frameworks and ensuring members are aware of and operate within these frameworks.
- Communicating technical/program information through a variety of mediums (written, oral, visual), providing regular program reporting, ministerial and senate estimates briefs and responses to other formal queries.
- Developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Capacity to engage with complex issues, provide recommendations and display sound judgement and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent leadership skills, including the ability to exercise judgement, manage staff, operate independently and understand the impact of the wider environment on your own work and team objectives.
**What you'll need to succeed**
To be successful in this position, you will have previous experience in a similar position and the Federal Government. You will also have demonstrated program management and/or secretariat experience, excellent written and communication skills, the ability to interpret legislation and provide detailed written advice on regulatory issues, strong leadership skills and experience managing small teams, excellent organisation and planning skills and proven capacity to deliver outcomes, individually and as a team member.
To be considered for this role, you will need to be an Australian citizen and have the ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance at the Baseline level or higher.
