Emergency Department Doctor – Leadership-Focused Role

Central Gippsland Health | Sale, Victoria

Central Gippsland Health (CGH) provides acute and sub‑acute care as part of an integrated service delivery model across Wellington Shire and surrounding regions. Services are delivered across three campuses — Sale, Maffra, and Heyfield — with Sale as the major acute hub.

CGH is also a leading teaching hospital, affiliated with Monash University’s School of Rural Health, providing high‑quality clinical education and training for medical students and junior doctors.


Acute Services Include

* Full‑time Emergency Department
* Critical Care Unit & Neonatal Critical Care
* Three Operating Theatres & Day Procedure Unit
* Oncology & Dialysis Services
* General Medicine & Surgical Services
* Sub‑acute services including Rehabilitation

This position delivers hands‑on emergency medicine while providing strong on‑the‑floor leadership to junior medical staff, including Interns, HMOs, and International Medical Graduates (IMGs).

Working closely with the Director of Emergency Services and other senior clinicians, you will play a key role in shaping safe, efficient, and high‑quality emergency care.


On‑site Support Includes

* General Surgery
* General Medicine
* Obstetrics & Gynaecology
* Paediatrics
* Anesthetics


Key Responsibilities

* Provide and oversee high‑quality medical care in the Emergency Department
* Support efficient ED operations in partnership with the Nursing Unit Manager and Director of Critical Care & Emergency Services
* Contribute to achieving performance targets including waiting times and length of stay
* Provide leadership in planning, coordination, and evaluation of ED services
* Support ethical and best‑practice emergency medicine
* Supervise, mentor, and support junior medical staff


Qualifications

* MBBS or equivalent qualification enabling registration with the Medical Board of Australia
* General Registration with AHPRA, or eligibility for provisional or limited registration
* Demonstrated experience in Emergency Medicine
* Proven ability to supervise, support, and educate junior doctors and medical students
* Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
