Pintupi Homelands Health Service (PHHS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation delivering culturally safe, high-quality primary health care services to remote communities across the Western Desert region. This is more than a health promotion role. It's an opportunity to work alongside the Pintupi people, supporting community-led initiatives that improve health outcomes for young people, families, and future generations. As part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll help design and deliver innovative health promotion, nutrition, sexual health, social and emotional wellbeing, and preventative health programs that are grounded in culture, community strengths, and meaningful engagement. As the Health Promotion Officer, you will lead the implementation of the Health Promotion Portfolio within the Kintore community, focusing on improving health outcomes through prevention, education, and community engagement. Working closely with community members, Aboriginal Health Workers, clinicians, schools, local organisations, and external stakeholders, you will develop and deliver culturally appropriate programs across: Health Promotion Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) Sexual Health (BBVSTI) Nutrition and School Nutrition Programs A key focus of the role is engaging young people aged 15–34 years to improve access to preventative health services, increase health assessments, and support healthy lifestyle choices. Key responsibilities include: Designing and delivering community-led health promotion activities Facilitating workshops and health education sessions Supporting nutrition, healthy lifestyle, and physical activity programs Building strong relationships with community members and partner organisations Supporting access to specialist and allied health services Promoting preventative health initiatives relating to chronic disease, diabetes, cardiovascular health, renal health, sexual health, and wellbeing Contributing to quality improvement, reporting, and program evaluation activities Supporting the transfer of health knowledge and skills to community members and Aboriginal Health Workers What Do You Need? To be successful in this role, you will have: Demonstrated experience in health promotion, community development, health education, or preventative health programs Strong communication, engagement, and relationship-building skills Experience working within multidisciplinary teams Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities Strong organisational and reporting skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office and digital systems A current Australian Driver's Licence & willingness to travel by 4WD Tertiary qualifications in Health Promotion, Public Health, Education, Community Development, Allied Health, or a related discipline Highly desirable: Experience working in remote Australia Understanding of Aboriginal health and Primary Health Care principles Experience working within Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services Additional Requirements Candidates must: Be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident Be adaptable, resilient, and able to thrive in a small remote community environment Be committed to working respectfully within a cross-cultural setting Be willing to learn and develop Pintupi language and cultural knowledge Be prepared to commit to an 8 weeks on / 2 weeks off FIFO roster Be committed to supporting community capacity building and the transfer of health skills to Aboriginal Health Workers and community members If you are interested in this opportunity, apply now or give Rell a call on 08 8982 1047 to find out more.
