Your new team Be part of a specialist internal product team dedicated to making development and the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) efficient, secure, and robust. You will engage with delivery teams, architects, and technical leads to identify opportunities to implement class leading AI solutions and workflows to improve delivery velocity and quality. As a key member of a technical delivery team, the Business Analyst works closely with the Product Owner and Engineering leads to ensure business and technical requirements are documented clearly. You will serve as a bridge between complex system constraints and modern development needs, ensuring that our internal engineering and delivery "customers" have the AI tools and processes they need to build great features. The role SDLC Re-imagination & Discovery: Collaborate with the AI PO to conduct strategic analysis of the end-to-end development lifecycle to identify friction points where AI paradigms and tools can fundamentally replace or accelerate traditional administrative and delivery tasks. Experimentation & Prototyping (R&D): Collaborate with the AI team to execute rapid, scientific experiments with emerging AI tools to validate hypotheses, ensuring a "fail fast" approach to innovation before scaling successful solutions to the wider business. Workflow & Guardrail Definition: Collaborate with the AI team to design and document "AI-ready" workflows that integrate strict guardrails and governance to ensure generated outputs meet quality, security, and compliance standards. Change Management & Adoption: Champion the cultural adoption of AI within engineering teams by showcasing tangible value, gathering user feedback, and actively addressing resistance to new ways of working. Requirement Definition: Translate complex R&D concepts into clear technical specifications for the AI engineering team, balancing the capabilities of off-the-shelf tools (e.g., Copilot) with custom built-in-house solutions. Benefits Realisation: Quantify the success of AI initiatives by establishing performance baselines and tracking key metrics such as velocity, bug reduction, and cycle time improvements. What experience you’ll bring Essential Experience Business Analysis: Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Business Analyst, preferably within a technical delivery, platform, or R&D team. SDLC Expertise: Deep understanding of software delivery methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall, DevOps). You must know the "rules" intimately in order to know how to break and rewrite them. AI Literacy: Demonstrated interest in Generative AI tools. You must understand the practical limitations of current models (e.g., hallucinations, context windows, non-deterministic outcomes) to define realistic requirements and workflows. Process documentation: Ability to map complex workflows and visualize how data and decisions flow between humans and systems. Experience in a regulated environment (preferably Insurance/Finance) where Data restrictions and information security are paramount. Skills & Capabilities Experimental Mindset: Comfortable working with ambiguity. You view failure in an experiment as a data point, not a setback. Technical Logic: While you do not need to code, you must be able to follow technical logic, understand API integrations, and converse fluently with developers about architectural constraints. Stakeholder Influence: Ability to facilitate workshops with highly technical audiences and drive consensus on new, unproven ways of working. Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills to deconstruct systemic inefficiencies and propose innovative solutions. Desirable (Beneficial) Advanced AI Concepts: Familiarity with concepts such as RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), MCPs (Model Context Protocol), multi-agent architectures, prompt engineering and token limits. AI Tooling: Experience with or exposure to specific platforms like AWS Bedrock and GitHub Copilot. Experience with developer tooling (Jira, GitHub/GitLab, CI/CD pipelines). Location Close to a variety of public transport and easy parking options, the Toowong office has excellent end of trip facilities (including secure bike storage and showers), outdoor spaces and plenty of modern collaborative areas to work and connect with colleagues.
