Offer description

Procurement and Contracts Officer

The National Archives of Australia plays a vital role in preserving the history and identity of the nation by ensuring government records are managed with integrity and made accessible to the public.

Within this purpose-driven agency, the Corporate Services Branch underpins operational excellence through the ethical and effective management of financial, procurement, HR, and property services.

The Finance and Procurement Section sits at the centre of this mission, supporting business areas across the Archives to ensure compliant, value-for-money procurement that stands up to scrutiny.

Employees here enjoy a respectful, collaborative workplace where hierarchy takes a back seat to teamwork, professional growth is encouraged, and flexibility is balanced with purpose.

This is a rare opportunity for a procurement professional to move into an advisory-style role in a small, supportive team at the heart of a nationally significant institution.

You'll be trusted to partner with business areas across the Archives, guiding them through complex procurement challenges while improving documentation, reporting, and process maturity.

With long-term career pathways, exposure to unique procurement categories, from conservation and exhibitions to digital platforms, and support for further learning, this is a role where your contributions will be both recognised and valued.

Key Responsibilities:

* Provide advice to business areas, reviewing procurement documentation and ensuring compliance with rules and internal standards
* Upload and manage procurement activities through internal systems
* Support reporting obligations, including Senate reporting and contract lists
* Advise on use of panels, including people panels, and several Archives-specific panels
* Draft and maintain user-friendly templates and guidance material to support better procurement practices
* Manage contract registers and ensure obligations are tracked and met

The Ideal Person:

You enjoy working in an environment where your advice is sought out, your input matters, and your relationships across the business are built on trust and mutual respect.

You thrive in roles where you can coach others, translate complex rules into practical advice, and contribute to improving systems rather than just following them.

This is a great opportunity for a motivated individual who is passionate about procurement and wants to make a real difference in a dynamic team.

Benefits:

* APS6 salary range: $96,344 - $106,899 + 15.4% super
* Available as a 12-month non-ongoing contract or s26 temporary/permanent transfer
* Located in Parkes, ACT with hybrid work arrangements available (up to two WFH days per week after settling in)
* Supportive, non-hierarchical team culture
* Studies Assistance Program and wellbeing initiatives available
