BUILDING ASSOCIATE
Salary: AUD $80,000 - $150,000 per annum (depending on qualifications and experience) + super. Employment Type: Full-time. Location: VIC.
The Building Associate will support the planning, coordination, supervision, and delivery of construction projects, ensuring compliance with building standards, project specifications, and relevant legislation. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, contractors, consultants, and clients to facilitate efficient project execution from commencement through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
* Assist in the planning and coordination of construction projects and building activities.
* Monitor construction works to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, building codes, and quality standards.
* Liaise with architects, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and regulatory authorities throughout project delivery.
* Review technical drawings, project documentation, schedules, and construction methodologies.
* Support the preparation of project reports, progress updates, and construction documentation.
* Conduct site inspections and identify potential construction, safety, quality, or compliance issues.
* Assist with project scheduling, resource allocation, and procurement activities.
* Monitor project progress against timelines and budgets and report any variances.
* Contribute to the implementation of workplace health and safety requirements across project sites.
* Assist in resolving technical and operational issues that may arise during construction activities.
* Support contract administration and ensure project documentation is maintained accurately.
Skills and Experience
* A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in the building and construction industry.
* Sound understanding of construction processes, building methodologies, and project coordination.
* Experience interpreting building plans, specifications, and technical documentation.
* Strong organisational and problem‐solving skills.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality outcomes.
Qualifications
* Minimum qualification of a Diploma in Building and Construction, Construction Management, Building Design, Civil Construction, or a closely related field.
Desirable Knowledge
* Knowledge of Australian building regulations, construction standards, and compliance requirements.
* Familiarity with construction scheduling and project management software.
* Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements within the construction industry.
* Experience working on commercial, residential, or infrastructure construction projects.
