We’re seeking a licensed Teacher to join our dynamic alternative education team serving 16–24-year-olds. The Teacher will coordinate and deliver holistic instruction focused on core academic subjects (focused on Language Arts/Social Studies), GED preparation, and college and career readiness. Academic content may vary (all Teachers may be required to teach all subjects at times) and includes both core subjects and electives aligned with student interests and interdisciplinary program themes—such as Sustainable Building, Issues in Affordable Housing and Childcare, and other project-based, vocationally relevant learning experiences grounded in real community issues.

This full-time position incorporates differentiated instruction, blended learning strategies, and vocational integration to meet the diverse needs of students. The program is located just outside of Sisters, Oregon and in Redmond, Oregon. A consistent work location schedule will be assigned. The position requires driving students to GED tests or service projects (in Heart of Oregon vehicles) and may involve teaching at construction or community worksites throughout the Central Oregon region. The Teacher reports to the Program Director and works as part of a staff team of 12, including one other teaching staff. Heart of Oregon Corps is a large regional non-profit that operates 5 youth training programs. The 12-month program schedule includes 3-5 weeks of non-student time each year (academics are delivered in the summer).

Strong classroom management skills and the ability to maintain a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning workplace are essential.

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree and an Oregon State teaching license with endorsements in Language Arts or Social Studies at the high school level is required. Bilingual (Spanish/English) skills are a plus. Two years of teaching experience preferred, but we are open to applications from first-year licensed teachers.

Physical Requirements: light duty work in an office setting. Some walking, standing, stooping and occasionally carrying/lifting of items under 25 pounds. Driving regular passenger vehicles. Field trips and services projects may present highly varied physical conditions, but not all field trip or service project duties are essential.
