For further information please visit https://www.rbg.vic.gov.au/ What You'll Do We are seeking a skilled Horticulturist to support the maintenance, development, and conservation of our living plant collection at Melbourne Gardens. You will apply horticultural techniques to create a thriving plant environment, manage pest control using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) principles, and assist with irrigation systems. Working closely with the Horticulture and wider Melbourne Gardens team, you will contribute to landscape development projects and horticultural plans, maintaining accurate records and ensuring high standards of landscape presentation. In addition, you have excellent attention to detail in holistic plant care and data management. Your excellent communication and interpersonal skills mean you can work well within a team and deliver exceptional customer service to enhance the visitor experience. What You'll Bring The ideal candidate will have a Trade Certificate, Advanced Certificate, Diploma, or relevant qualifications in Horticulture, along with experience in botanic gardens or large garden maintenance and landscape presentation. Completion of a Chemical Users Course or an Agricultural Chemical Users Permit is also essential. You have a strong knowledge of current horticultural practices, plant identification, and the ability to optimise plant performance through effective weed, pest, and disease control. Experience with maintaining accurate records, operating horticultural machinery safely, and managing landscape irrigation systems is also required. Additionally, you will have a proven proficiency in software including the Microsoft Suite.
