About the client
Our client is a busy Service Trades Contractor delivering projects for residential and commercial customers. The role offers the opportunity to operate with full autonomy in a trusted, senior role within a progressive and well‑established business, ensuring the smooth running of the business, support to the director, and ensuring the financial and operational rhythm of the business stays on track. There is flexibility to negotiate working hours.
Key Responsibilities
Accounts / Finance administration
* Monitor and manage cashflow, including incoming and outgoing payments
* Maintain a clear view of the financial position and keep the employer informed (regular updates, exceptions, and priorities)
* Support invoicing, receipting, supplier payments, reconciliations, and general accounts administration
* Use and maintain Xero accounting software, including payroll processing
Job management / Operations coordination
* Manage and update minor jobs through job management software (creating, tracking, scheduling, closing out)
* Coordinate on-site work: scheduling, communications, job status updates, and follow-ups
* Liaise with customers, technicians and suppliers to support smooth delivery and minimal delays
HR / People administration
* Manage HR administration across onboarding, employee records, basic compliance documentation, and general people support
* Support the director with practical HR coordination and follow-ups (within agreed scope)
Executive Assistant support
* Calendar and meeting coordination, correspondence, document preparation, and general administrative support to the director
Qualifications and Skills
To thrive in this role, you'll bring:
* Demonstrated experience in a similar blended role
* Confidence using accounting software (including payroll) and a practical understanding of small business financial management
* Strong organisational and prioritisation skills with the ability to work independently and take initiative
* Excellent communication skills and a professional, client-friendly approach with a calm, solutions-focused mindset - able to juggle competing priorities without losing attention to detail.
* Ownership of the role. The ability to work autonomously, multi-task and prioritise work effectively
