The opportunity:
CSR has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Tax Accountant to join our Taxation Compliance team based in North Ryde. In this pivotal role, you will take ownership of complex tax compliance and advisory responsibilities across multiple entities, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to regulatory requirements. You'll work closely with senior stakeholders, manage critical tax processes, and provide expert guidance on a wide range of taxation matters, from income tax and FBT to GST and payroll tax.
This is more than just a compliance role-you'll play a key part in shaping tax strategy, driving process improvements, and mentoring team members, all while contributing to the financial integrity and success of the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
* Prepare and/or review:
* Group consolidated and individual entity income tax returns
* Country-by-Country (CbC) reporting
* Business Activity Statements (BAS)
* Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) returns and reportable fringe benefits information
* Monthly and annual payroll tax returns
* Analyse financial records to ensure accuracy and compliance
* Project manage information gathering and maintain supporting documentation
* Manage the R&D tax claim process with external consultants
* Ensure internal controls and compliance standards are met (e.g., GL reconciliations)
* Review monthly tax effect accounting entries and prepare calculations for statutory accounts
* Liaise with external auditors regarding tax balances
* Prepare franking account and advise on franked dividend payments
* Calculate income tax expense and tax payments for forecasts, budgets, and long-term plans
* Assist with tax reviews, audits, and disputes with ATO, NZ IRD, and State Revenue Authorities
* Provide timely and accurate tax advice to internal stakeholders
* Mentor and review the work of the Taxation Accountant
What We're Looking For
* Tertiary qualification in Business, Accounting, or related field
* Membership of CA or CPA
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a tax-related role (in-house or chartered firm)
* Strong technical skills in income tax, FBT, GST, and payroll tax
* Solid financial accounting knowledge
* SAP experience preferred
* Exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
* Commitment to continuous improvement and professional development
