The role

Join Victoria's Youth Justice Precinct at Malmsbury.

Responsibilities
  • Take the lead on managing the daily scheduling and planning every young person's day and ensuring timetables are achievable.
  • Contribute to improving the outcomes of young people's futures.
  • Directly manage the daily movements calendar, identifying any problem areas and negotiating re-scheduling of appointments to ensure all needs are met in line with the young person's case plan and operational demands.
  • Aid in the 'on the day' rescheduling and logistics of appointments, ensuring high priority appointment needs are met.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, customer service and clear verbal and written communication to all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaise directly with the Unit Supervisor to identify potential programs and prioritise or reschedule as required.
  • Ensure fluidity of all movements across the precinct and maintain ongoing communication with staff to keep all visits and appointments aligned to young people's case plans.
  • Confidently negotiate with service providers to ensure alignment to the structured day timetable, managing potential scheduling issues or changes and consulting with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Plan and prioritise workload to ensure the effective delivery of high quality, responsive and timely outcomes.
  • Keep accurate and complete records of work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements.
Opportunity
  • Ongoing, full-time position based at the Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct with required travel to other Youth Justice Custodial Precincts as needed.
  • YJW2 salary range: $81,496 - $93,719 per year plus superannuation.
  • Work flexibly within the precinct to support operational demands and scheduling priorities.
Qualifications
  • Advanced experience and knowledge of the youth justice environment, including an understanding of the issues and complexities of the youth justice system.
  • Knowledge of adolescent development and effective interventions for young people from conflictual families and institutional backgrounds.
  • Proficiency with IT systems, including the Microsoft Office package.
  • Ability to perform risk assessments when managing and assigning rooms.
  • A current driver's licence is required to travel to other custodial sites.
  • Work with Children Check (WWCC) must be obtained and maintained for the period of employment.
