About the Role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a Communications Officer to support communications and extension activities within the Centre for Crop and Disease Management (CCDM).
This position is part of CCDM's commitment to build our profile as a leader of agricultural research, development, and extension.
You will use traditional and digital media tools and activities to engage CCDM's major stakeholders in the Australian grains industry.
This is a development-focused role, ideal for recent graduates eager to grow their skills in science communication.
Your responsibilities will include:
Under supervision research, write and prepare written communication materials including media releases, blog posts, case studies, outward facing reports and website copy for publishing through relevant channels (website, social media platforms, flyers and e-newsletters).
Assist with logistical requirements for events that target our stakeholders and support and promote brand awareness.
Contribute to content creation and management of social media accounts according to our social media strategy, including X/Twitter, Bluesky, LinkedIn, and Facebook.
Support creation of other communications materials including videos, podcasts, tools and resources.
Support updates and management of website through Wordpress.
Support in reviewing and reporting on communications activities.
Support linking media requests with relevant researchers and general communications support to staff and students.
Who we are looking for (Selection Criteria):
Essential:
A degree in a relevant discipline such as Agricultural Science/Agribusiness, science communications, public relations, marketing, or related subject area.
Experience in professional writing, social media and with the ability to prepare clear, accurate and timely communication materials.
Experience in event coordination, using outstanding organisational skills to set priorities and meet deadlines to deliver an industry outcome
Passion for science and science communication.
Desirable:
Experience in online design and publishing tools (e.g., Canva) for creation of promotional materials and visuals.
Role Requirements:
As this is a fixed term role, you will require work rights in Australia that match the tenure of the role to be considered.
