Safety Advisor
A site-based safety role for a hands-on, autonomous advisor. Embed safety where it matters most in a high-risk manufacturing environment.
* ASX Listed Company
* Full-time, site-based role with flexible core hours
* Career development and international growth potential
About the Organisation:
Our client is a global manufacturer operating within the consumer and healthcare supply chain, recognised for its strong safety values, operational discipline, and commitment to continuous improvement.
With large-scale manufacturing operations across ANZ and internationally, the business operates high-risk production environments and places a strong emphasis on machine safety, risk-based decision making, and embedding safety into everyday operational activity.
About the Role:
This is a site-embedded Safety Advisor position based at a manufacturing facility in South East Melbourne. Reporting directly to the Site Manager and indirectly to the Regional Safety Leader, you will provide practical and proactive support across all WHS functions for the site, while also contributing to broader, business-wide safety initiatives.
As the primary safety presence on site, you will work closely with operations, lead high-quality risk assessments, and support the site in meeting internal safety frameworks and regulatory obligations. This is not a behavioural‐safety or desk‐based role, success will come from strong shop‐floor visibility, sound judgement, and the confidence to challenge unsafe systems, processes, and assumptions.
Key Responsibilities include:
* Lead and facilitate high-quality risk assessments across manufacturing operations
* Maintain and uplift hazard registers, SOPs, and safety documentation
* Drive machine safety and critical risk controls, including lock-out/tag-out and guarding
* Support incident investigations with a strong focus on root cause and system failures
* Coordinate toolbox talks, safety meetings, and ongoing workforce engagement
* Ensure compliance with ISO 45001 and relevant local regulatory requirements
* Prepare the site for annual internal audits
About You:
You are a practical, confident Safety Advisor who is comfortable operating independently in a high-risk manufacturing environment. You are an influential communicator and values driven collaborator, partnering with leaders and operators.
You will bring:
* Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (minimum)
* Approximately 5+ years' experience in manufacturing, processing, or industrial environments
* Strong capability in machine safety, risk assessment, and hazard control
* Confidence influencing site leaders and engaging frontline teams
* A hands‐on, floor‐based approach- not office‐bound
* The ability to operate without close mentoring or day‐to‐day supervision
Experience in extrusion, blown film, or heavy manufacturing environments will be highly regarded.
What's on Offer:
* Strong salary package, employee assistance and private health insurance discount program
* Full‐time, permanent role with flexible start times to suit shift operations
* Strong internal career development and mobility across ANZ
* Opportunity to contribute to site‐level and broader safety initiatives
* Supportive site leadership with a genuine commitment to safety improvement
* Membership with the National Association for Women in Manufacturing (NAWO)
* Inclusive, values‐led culture supporting diversity, equity, and professional growth
Please note, the successful applicant will be required to undergo a pre‐employment medical and background check.
