Amenity Enforcement Officer (Animal Management)

Reference:

- Temporary Full-Time (12 months)
- Band 5 ($81,248 - $92,958) + 12% super + monthly ADO

The Opportunity
Our Local Laws department has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Amenity Enforcement Officer (Animal Management) to join the team. Reporting to the Team Leader Animal Management, this role will ensure the safety and amenity of the City of Maribyrnong, through a process of education, enforcement and the promotion of responsible pet ownership.

This role would suit a confident communicator with sound judgement and decision-making skills, who has proven experience in consultation and dispute resolution, across a range of challenging issues and situations.

Key Responsibilities

- Enforce relevant Acts, Regulations and Council's Local Laws applicable to animal management;
- Issue Infringement notices and record details relevant to the Infringement notices to in line with Council policies and procedures;
- Undertake daily foot and or vehicular patrols of specific areas including all parks within the Municipality;
- Undertake investigations in relation to complaints received and resolve complaints in a timely and professional manner and in line with Council policies and procedures;
- Interview, advise and educate members of the public by a range of means including face to face, telephone, written and when required, attendance at public forums;
- Maintain a diary of all activities, taking responsibility for the investigation of complaints, enforcement action and provision of a timely response to Customer Service requests where necessary.
- Prepare reports relating to enforcement action, attend Court and give evidence as required.

About You

To be considered for this role, you will have the following:

- Certificate 4 in Government (Statutory Compliance) preferred together with relevant experience.
- Demonstrated ability to comprehend and interpret Acts and Regulations and decide on an appropriate course of action.

Please note, this role also requires the successful candidate to:

- Undertake a pre-employment medical check;
- Undertake a police check ensuring no relevant criminal record is found;
