We are seeking an experienced Senior Azure Engineer to join a high-performing infrastructure team supporting the design, build and deployment of Azure-based enterprise systems.
This role sits within a systems-focused environment undergoing a significant uplift, where core platforms are being modernised and replaced with modular, cloud-native solutions leveraging existing Azure services. You'll play a key role in supporting project delivery and building resilient, secure, and maintainable infrastructure that underpins critical national operations.
This is a hands-on, senior technical role with end-to-end ownership across packages of work, combined with the opportunity to guide junior engineers and contribute to a collaborative engineering culture.
Please note: An active Baseline security clearance is required prior to commencement.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, implement and test Azure-based infrastructure solutions aligned to business requirements and engineering standards
* Provide systems expertise to enhance and improve existing solutions across a complex enterprise environment
* Work collaboratively across teams to investigate and resolve complex infrastructure and Infrastructure-as-Code issues
* Own end-to-end delivery, ensuring reliability, security and maintainability of solutions
* Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers
* Produce high-quality technical and design documentation and ensure delivery milestones are met
* Contribute to on-call support arrangements for enterprise infrastructure
* Perform additional duties as required to support operational outcomes
Essential Experience and Skills
* Demonstrated experience implementing enterprise IT solutions using Azure services, including:
o Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS)
o Storage (Blob and File)
o Integration services (Service Bus, Event Hub)
o API Management (APIM)
o Key Vault
* Strong experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines using ARM and/or Bicep templates
* Proven experience managing and migrating infrastructure solutions to Azure
* Solid understanding of risk management principles within infrastructure environments
* Strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build effective working relationships and influence outcomes
* Relevant IT qualifications and cloud certifications
* Experience with Git version control and branching strategies
* Knowledge of Australian cyber security frameworks
* Familiarity with IT frameworks such as ITIL and TOGAF
* Understanding of Commonwealth ICT frameworks
