Work Experience at Lake Mac -University of Newcastle Business School
In recognition of Lake Macquarie City Council's Platinum Partnership with Newcastle Business School, Council is committed to facilitating placement opportunities for students completing their degree under the University's Business School. We endeavour to place and support students with their placement, assisting in achieving their professional and educational goals.
Lake Macquarie City Council provides opportunities for those completing degrees with mandatory placement to explore the workplace and work along trained professionals. These placements are a great opportunity to learn from our staff, gain new skills and on-the-job experience, while exploring possible career opportunities.
APPLYING FOR WORK EXPERIENCE
If you are interested in undertaking work experience with Lake Macquarie City Council and are completing a degree under the Newcastle Business School (NBS), please submit an application below. As part of your application, you will be asked to include:
* Student Placement Agreement - A letter from Work Placements confirming your enrolment in BUSN3002 and your selection of your specialisation
* Resume
* Academic Transcript
Unfortunately, we are unable to action an application until we have received this information. If you are interested in work experience, however not completing a degree under the NBS, you can apply here .
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
* Participants must be undertaking a degree within the Newcastle Business School listed here
* Applications for work experience must be made at least 6 weeks prior to the preferred start date for work experience. All requests will be actioned within 48 hours; however, a response may take 14 days from application. If your application is successful, you will be required to undertake a number of online modules, including Code of Conduct, Work Health and Safety and Your Behaviour at Work, prior to the start date.
* It is important that you identify which department you would like to experience so that we have a clear understanding of your interests and can match you with the most meaningful area at Council for you. The departments at Lake Mac included in the partnership include.
DISCLAIMER
While we aim to provide all applicants with meaningful work experience in their preferred area where possible, the volume of applications that Council receives means that it may be necessary to decline some applications. All applications will be assessed in terms of timing of the placement, workloads of our employees and the availability of our people in the requested area to mentor and supervise students.
