My Gateway are looking for a 1st year Heavy Vehicle Mechanic apprentice to work with Parramatta Council.
As a part of the 4 year apprenticeship, you will complete a Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology.
Your responsibilities may include:
* Assist qualified mechanics in carrying out allocated work programs in preparing, repairing and maintaining plant and mechanical equipment.
* Assist with diagnosing faults and carry out repairs utilising appropriate work practices, techniques, tools and equipment.
* Maintain the mechanical workshop, ensuring the area is in a clean and safe condition.
* Adapt to changing priorities and undertake other tasks as directed.
* Show initiative by providing feedback and input on improvements in operating procedures, programs, and work schedules.
* Learn and demonstrate an awareness of cost and ensure that operations are undertaken efficiently with minimal waste.
* Ensure correct completion of all necessary administrative functions (electronic or paper-based) associated with the department.
To be considered, you must:
* Have the capacity to undertake the physical requirements of the position and area of specialisation.
* Ability to work autonomously and within a team environment.
* Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with an interest in learning a hands-on trade.
* Written and verbal communication skills.
* Computer literate and ability to effectively use a computer or iPad.
Licences:
Driver's licence and white card (Willing to Obtain).
